2000 | Austin 12
Description
This vehicle was built in England in 2020 and is a replica of a corresponding vehicle that competed in at least one race at Brooklands.
The original vehicle no longer exists. The chassis comes from an Austin 12 truck, the engine is a Buick Streight Eight (8 cylinder in-line engine with 4.8 liter displacement). Transmission comes from Ford. The body is handmade from aluminum and was reproduced from photos of the original.
Due to the extremely good workmanship, no paintwork was applied. The engine also has a supercharger, which is correctly mounted in front of the radiator. Despite the enormous length of almost 5 meters, the car weighs only 1140 kg. The driving performance is correspondingly high, a cruising speed of 160 km/h on the highway is easily possible. The sound is infernal, more like a WW2 aircraft with a radial engine.
The vehicle is registered in England and is also driven with English license plates. The Austin is type-approved and also registered in Austria (license plates are on file). Mileage since construction < 3000 km.
If required, there are several more photos, also of the body in England.
