Description

Aston Martin DB5/1409/R was first delivered to Brooklands of Bond Street on the 18th January 1964 with the registration 5KO. The DB5 had chrome wheels and a heated rear screen. The original livery was Goodwood Green with Connolly Vaumol leather in Fawn.

In 1964, the DB5 was delivered to a customer in Kent, then exported to New Zealand and registered on 19th October 1978. Whilst the DB5 was in New Zealand, the Aston Martin Owners Club were aware of the vehicle and its ownership.

Whilst '1409' was stationed in New Zealand, there was a change of owner on 27th March 1979. Warrant of fitness inspections were carried out in New Zealand.

Single ownership with Mr Auston for 20 years, who acquired '1409' on 22nd November 2004 and was a member of the UK AMOC. Invoices both from the car's time in New Zealand and the UK, including servicing work. Temporary exportation to the UK by Mr Auston in June 2006 saw various maintenance work carried out by Aston Martin specialists RS Williams. Most notably, a full overhaul of the engine, fitting manifolds, stripping the carburettors and cleaning cam covers.

In February of 2025, the DB5 underwent an extensive restoration by renowned Aston Martin specialists Richards of England, returning the car to its original livery of 'Goodwood Green' with Connolly Vaumol leather in Fawn, documented and presented through our signature matching restoration books. Following on from the extensive restoration, the DB5 had its first debut at the 2026 Yorkshire Elegance held at Grantley Hall, Ripon, where it won First in Class.
