Welcome to Oldie Point!
We are constantly looking for classic and youngtimer vehicles and look forward to your offer.
In March 1963, Mercedes-Benz presented the W113 SL series as the 230 SL at the Geneva Motor Show. Introduced as the successor to the 190 SL, it was designed by the renowned designer Paul Bracq. The 230 SL, producing 150 hp from its 2.3-liter engine, was built between 1963 and 1967. Due to its optionally available concave hardtop, it became famously known as the “Pagoda”.
The 230 SL presented here was built in 1965 and delivered new to the United States. According to the Mercedes-Benz data card, the original factory specification included the exterior color DB 573 “Dark Bordeaux Red”, black MB-Tex interior, automatic transmission, power steering, whitewall tires, and more. The only later addition is a very practical and discreet wind deflector.
The current, exceptionally well-kept condition of this “Pagoda” is also the result of a comprehensive engine and front axle overhaul carried out in 2015. Since then, the vehicle has covered approximately 12,000 km. In addition, the brakes and radiator have been renewed, while an upgraded starter motor and an electronic ignition system (123ignition) were installed. In 2023, the injection pump was professionally adjusted by a specialist in Berlin, and the engine also received new fuel injectors.
The vehicle comes with extensive documentation, including the original plaque bearing the name of the first owner in the USA, the original tool kit, and the hardtop painted in body color. A photo documentation of the engine overhaul (including the engine bay) is also available.
This beautiful roadster is presented in a reliable, carefully maintained, and largely original condition – with no immediate investment required. Since 2020 in second ownership after its import from the USA, this comfortably equipped classic is ideal for enjoyable summer drives, even on longer journeys, best experienced on scenic country roads.
