1955 | Jaguar XK 140 SE DHC
Jaguar XK140 SE DHC, year 1956 (production date September 26, 1955). Chassis number S817919DN, engine number: G5346‑8S. The car has matching numbers, which is confirmed by the enclosed Jaguar Heritage certificate. This beautiful XK140 SE Drophead Coupé was delivered new in Los Angeles, USA. Around the year 2000, the car was imported into the Netherlands and subsequently extensively restored. In 2004, the car was sold to Germany via one of ClassicarGarage's partners. The Jaguar was owned by the same owner for 22 years and was meticulously maintained during that period.
This fantastic Jaguar is in very good condition and displays a beautiful patina, built up by decades of careful use. The quality of the restoration is clearly visible in the excellent fit of the body panels, the beautiful paintwork, and the fine chrome work. The car comes with an extensive history and maintenance file featuring historical documents and numerous invoices, providing the next owner with a clear and detailed insight into its past. According to the Heritage certificate, this XK140 is factory-equipped with Special Equipment (SE). The SE designation is not a separate model, but a performance-oriented package.
It includes the Jaguar C-type sport cylinder head, which increases power from 190 hp to 210 hp; a dual exhaust system for improved flow, more power, and a deeper sound; chrome wire wheels that enhance the appearance and reduce weight; and dual Lucas 576 SLR/SFT lights on the front bumper, linked to the special four-position switch on the dashboard. This example is also equipped with the sought-after overdrive option. A rare and valuable feature of this XK140 is the pair of sand-cast SU carburetors originally used on early XK120s and racing C-Types between 1951 and 1953. A fully equipped SE version with these carburetors is rarely found and highly sought after. This beautiful, fully optioned Jaguar XK140 SE DHC is a rare find for the Jaguar enthusiast or collector.
