American Muscle in its Purest Form – the 1972 Demon 340
How many people can claim to own a muscle car assembled in Switzerland? In 1972, just 96 Dodge Demons were built in Schinznach-Bad in the canton of Aargau – and one of them is now being offered in our online auction. This “Swiss” Demon represents a unique combination of American muscle car heritage and local manufacturing craftsmanship. It also marks the end of an era: 1972 was the final year of automobile assembly in Schinznach-Bad.
First registered in November 1972, this Demon underwent a comprehensive restoration between 2020 and 2021 by a renowned Swiss specialist in American muscle cars. The restoration project, costing in excess of CHF 46,000, included the installation of a Scat Stroker kit, increasing displacement to 6.1 litres. Now producing well over 400 bhp (compared with its original 240 bhp), the Demon truly lives up to its name.
All work is fully documented. The engine and drivetrain were further enhanced with a bespoke tubular exhaust manifold, a K&N air filter, and a fully rebuilt TorqueFlite automatic transmission. Since completion of the restoration, the Demon has covered fewer than 1,000 kilometres. It holds a valid Swiss “Veteran” MOT (issued in 2021).
And whoever takes the wheel of this black devil in future will not have to forgo comfort: a modern air-conditioning system has been discreetly installed, along with a hi-fi audio system.
