Under the bonnet, the car looks absolutely stunning too; from the suspension right through to the exhaust, everything is clean, original and perfectly maintained. This 6-cylinder S54 was designed and developed by the BMW Motorsport division, and they pulled out all the stops. It’s textbook perfection, with all the fine technical details you’d expect from a classic sports engine. And with a power-to-litre ratio of over 100 hp per litre without a turbo, no Ferrari or Lamborghini of the time could match it. And this engine is smooth, economical and extremely reliable.
