The Austin-Healey 100 remains one of the most charismatic British sports cars of the 1950s, and the BN2, built between 1955–1956 only, is widely regarded as the ultimate expression of the original “Big Healey.” With its uprated four-speed gearbox with overdrive, improved rear axle and refined suspension, the BN2 combined the raw, purposeful stance of the early cars with a far more sophisticated driving experience.
Under the bonnet, the 2.6-litre four-cylinder engine produces around 90 bhp and plenty of torque, giving the car effortless, long-legged performance: 0–60 mph in under 11 seconds and a top speed just shy of 110 mph, credible numbers that placed it firmly among the elite sporting roadsters of its day.
This particular 1956 BN2 is something truly special. It has been comprehensively restored by a highly experienced professional classic car mechanic, not for a customer, but for himself.
