1943 BMW R75 sidecar combination with Steib sidecar, Chemnitz Army Supply Office
I am selling my BMW R75 sidecar combination from my private collection. The vehicle is offered in its current, well-maintained condition – not a modern reproduction or replica.
Key details:
About the vehicle:
The sidecar combination consists of a BMW motorbike (chassis no. 761054) and a Steib sidecar (serial number 612637). The engine underwent an extensive overhaul in 2010; the work is documented with photographs and invoices, which are included with the sale.
The frame number and sidecar number are not identical (761054 / 612637). This is not uncommon amongst surviving R75 sidecars of this type, as the motorbike and sidecar were manufactured by different manufacturers, each with their own numbering system, and were only combined into a single vehicle during final assembly or registration. I expressly point this out so that prospective buyers can form a realistic impression.
The paintwork is a sand-beige ‘desert’ finish with a white palm tree motif on the front of the sidecar in the style of the German Africa Corps. This is a later, stylised design choice and does not constitute evidence of this specific vehicle having actually been deployed in North Africa – there is documented evidence of its delivery to the Army Quartermaster’s Office in Chemnitz.
