About this Triumph TR5
----------------------

A LOVELY EXAMPLE WITH ONLY 3 OWNERS & 63,000 MILES FROM NEW!

The Triumph TR5 was not just a masterpiece of design by Giovanni Michelotti, it was mechanically ahead of it's time too. Triumph replaced their previous 2138cc 105 bhp (78 kW) Engine as fitted in the TR4, with a ground breaking Lucas mechanical fuel-injected 150 bhp (110 kW) 2. 5-litre straight-6 Engine.
This innovation was revolutionary in its time, as fuel injection was very rare in road cars and they proudly claimed in their sales brochure that the TR5 was the "First British production sports car with petrol injection."

This lovely Triumph TR5 - Chassis No: CP327 and Engine No: CP294E is a 'Matching Numbers' car and is 1 of only 1161 RHD Home market TR5's produced. According to the British Motor Industry Heritage Trust Certificate, it was built for the home market on the 12th December 1967 and despatched on 13th February 1968 to Triumph distributor Henlys in London. It was sold to its first owner, a Mr Robin Denson of New Milton in Hampshire and was first registered on 23rd February 1968 with its current and only number plate TGY 598F.

Mr Denson kept the car for 43 years, using it both here in England and in Bulgaria where they had a home, until sadly he died and a couple of years later the car was purchased by Beaulieu Garage from his widow in 2011 and transported from Bulgaria direct to their showrooms in Beaulieu. At this point, the car had only covered a genuine 51,800 Miles from new and it was featured in August's 2011 Classic & Sports Car magazine with Beaulieu Garage's Philip Scott discussing the increase in values of the TR5. (Photo of article in amongst the photographs)

Beaulieu Garage subsequently sold the car to a Mr Leigh Holden from Bedford in July 2011 and during his ownership, he spent around £8,000 on the car with TRGB in Huntingdon with works including a Cylinder Head overhaul with new injectors and leads, new drive shafts & U/J's, new rear springs and shock absorbers, Bosche Fuel Pump and PRV, Brake overhaul and regular servicing. Mr Holden sold the car back to TRGB after 8 years of ownership in the summer of 2019 when he had covered almost 11,000 miles in the car including a number of European trips and runs to the Classic Le Mans.

TRGB subsequemtly sold the car to the current owner in Bury St Edmunds in October 2019 and as part of the sale, works carried out included replacing the painted wire wheels with a new set of knock-on Mini-Lite Alloy Wheels in Graphite Grey, fitting a new Elm Dashboard, a new Black Vinyl Soft Top, new Static Seat Belts, a new Red Carpet set and a new Radiator and full service. During his ownership, he also fitted a new leather Mota-Lita Steering Wheel and Roll-Over Bar, and in December 2023 the original Black interior was replaced with a new Red interior including new door cards, custom made new Red Leather seat covers piped in White with new seat foams and there is an invoice in the file amounting to £5,413 for these works.

There are no invoices or records in the history file relating to any body or paintwork during the last 20 years, but it is very good indeed with presents very well. Both the chassis and underbody are also in very good condition with no rust or corrosion or indeed welding repairs to be seen, and we have included a number of photographs of the underside to show its condition. According to the BMIHT record, the car was originally finished in Royal Blue when it was built, but the first owner had the car repainted at some point during his ownership and the colour was changed to White, as it was when it arrived with Beaulieu Garage from Bulgaria in 2011.

Overall, this is a really nice example of a low mileage TR5 with only 3 owners in its 56 year life and it really does need to be seen and driven to be appreciated.

Upon sale the car will come with a new MOT & pre-sales service plus our own customer care package including a 55-point pre-delivery inspection and 6 months mechanical breakdown Parts & Labour Warranty which can be upgraded and extended at additional cost if required.

Car on display @ our showrooms in Mortlake, South West London.
