The four-passenger, front-engine Peugeot 205 supermini was manufactured and marketed over a sixteen-year production run from 1983 to 1999, over a single generation. Developed from Projet M24 and introduced on 25 February 1983, the 205 replaced the Peugeot 104 and the Talbot Samba, using major elements from their design. It won What Car?'s Car of the Year for 1984. It was also declared 'car of the decade' by CAR Magazine in 1990. Peugeot stopped marketing the 205 in 1999 in favour of its new front-engined 206. The 106, which was introduced in 1991, effectively took over as Peugeot's smaller front-engined model in their line-up. The Peugeot 205 Roland Garros had a limited production run, specifically, there were 3,550 of the three-door hatchback versions made. These were based on the XS model and featured a 1.4 litre engine, unique upholstery, and exterior styling elements. Additionally, a smaller number of Roland Garros convertibles were produced, with 150 allocated for the UK market.

A rare and desirable 205 Roland Garros first registered on 1st August in 1990, one of just 150 cars allocated for the UK market. A low mileage original example with the matching supplying dealer number plates, these cost in excess of £13,000 when new. We are informed by our vendor who has owned the car for the last thee years, that it 'runs and drives very well and gets lots of attention and lots of smiles!'. In 2023, a new hood was fitted in the correct original colour, by well a regarded trimmer, Hukes of Hemel Hempstead, we are informed it is a working electric hood which can be disconnected in the boot if not being used. Benefitting from regular servicing with many receipts showing work completed and parts purchased, this 205 is also offered with three keys (two of which are original), the original book pack, V5 registration document and MoT test certificate valid until April 2026.
