1962 FERRARI 250 GT/L BERLINETTA COMPETIZIONE CHASSIS / ENGINE #4213

Chassis 4213GT was leaving the factory in November 1962 to Carrozzeria Scaglietti and delivered in January 1963 as Ferrari’s first production Lusso. 4231 GT is one of only three known examples that saw competitive use in period. This model was sold new through Garage Francorchamps SA in Brussels, Belgium, the famed dealership of Jacques Swaters. 4231 GT's first owner was Leon Dernier, a Belgian who frequently raced Ferraris under the alias „Elde" He ordered a 250 GTO that couldn’t be delivered by Ferrari in time. So the factory sent him the first produced Lusso in competition trim. He entered his beautiful new Ferrari in various races including an event in 1963 at Spa-Francorchamps, at the Cote de Fleron hillclimb, where he placed third in the GT class, and at the Cote de la Roche hillclimb of the same year, where he finished first in his class. His final stint behind the wheel was at the Cote de Bomeree hill climb, where he once again finished third in the GT class.
1965 the car found his way to US. After long years of absence from the racetrack, the car returned to the historic motorsport racetrack in 2001 with David Cunningham.
2002 the car was sold to Germany and raced in several Ferrari events with J. Pyritz and the Oldtimer Grand Prix with M. Wilms.
2004, 4213GT was purchased by Heinrich Kampfer, a Ferrari expert and enthusiast with over thirty years racing experience, who restored it to latest regulations of the FIA and the Ferrari Shell Historic Challenge, whilst obtaining a Ferrari Classiche Certificate. Marcel Wettstein of Zurich was commissioned to restore the mechanical components, including the engine, gearbox, rear axle, and brakes. Mr. Wettstein is one of the premier specialists in Switzerland for vintage racing preparation on Ferraris and Maseratis. Every mechanical element was overhauled from the bearings to the gaskets, and the engin. In keeping with current racing regulations, a roll bar and racing seats were installed, in addition to a fuel cell and a central fire system. When the car was finished, he raced it in several Ferrari races.
2008 the car was sold by RM Auctions for 1,7 Min $ to Peter Giddings. In his hands the car was raced in the next 4 years several races like Monterey Historic and Monterey Motorsports Reunion in Laguna Seca and the Cavallino Classic Competition in Palm Beach.
2016 the car returned to Europe and was owned again by one of his previous owner M. Wilms
2020 the car was sold to Germany to historic racer and Ferrari collector Christopher Stahl. Britec Motorsports was ordered with a mechanical restoration and a second competition engine to GTO spec was prepared by marque expert Piet Roelofs. The car was raced by Chris Stahl and Nick Padmore in the Goodwood Members Meeting 2023 and Goodwood Revival 2022 and 2023. Starting from the end of the Grid the car finished 7th overall in the Lavant Cup racing against car like 250 GTO, 250 LM and 250 SWB and proved to be a competitive race car in historic events.
The car is rare and unique - so it’s a save ticket to the most prestigious events and a regular participant at Goodwood!

The car has German road registration, Ferrari Red Book Certification and FIVA papers.
