HISTORY / DOCUMENTATION
Nowadays a rarity: a very original example of a Dutch-delivered BMW 2002 with verifiable low mileage. Especially rare because many units were delivered to the United States, and even more have been modified or tuned. None of that applies to this car, making it a true collector’s item for someone who’s not looking for a restored car, but rather a pure driver’s car.
This BMW was first registered on September 14, 1970, and remained with its first owner until 2006. The last owner enjoyed the car for exactly 7 years. As of now, the Dutch roadworthiness inspection (APK) and road tax are no longer required for this 55-year-old car, meaning carefree driving for the next owner!

EXTERIOR
Finished in the beautiful red/brown shade 'Granat Rot', it’s a striking presence. Chrome details are featured throughout, including fully chromed bumpers and mirrors. The wheels are fitted with chrome hubcaps. Notable features include dual round headlights, high-mounted front indicators, and beautifully rounded taillights, flanked by the turn signals. The car is visually in original condition with minimal signs of use. The paintwork is in good shape without any significant damage. The panel gaps are all well aligned. Except for the windshield, all glass is still original.

INTERIOR
The black leather/fabric interior is still in very original condition and features the original Blaupunkt radio. The seats and door panels are free of damage. The rest of the interior is also well maintained with minimal wear. Thanks to the large windows, visibility is excellent. The front seats are equipped with headrests, and two passengers can comfortably sit in the rear. The rear side windows can be tilted open. The trunk is surprisingly spacious, and the spare wheel is stored under the flat load floor.

TECHNICAL
The 1,990 cc 4-cylinder engine (type M10) is paired with a 4-speed manual gearbox and drives the rear wheels. It was the largest available engine for this model. Driving pleasure is guaranteed—as you'd expect from a BMW. The car starts, shifts, steers, and brakes as it should. It has been well maintained, and all four tires are in good condition.

GENERAL
The 2002 is part of BMW’s 02 Series: a mid-size 2-door car built from 1966 to 1977. This model was meant to represent a compact GT with sporty driving characteristics alongside the production of more expensive models. It was, in fact, an early version of what is now the 3 Series.
The model proved successful, even in motorsport, due to its short wheelbase and low center of gravity. In 1968, the more powerful 2002 was introduced, featuring a single Solex carburetor. Sportier versions came with fuel injection (ti) or even a turbocharger. In total, 861,940 units of the BMW 02 Series (1600-2, 1602, 1802, 2002) were produced. The 2002 remains a popular classic to this day, with a fitting slogan: “Freude am Fahren” – Sheer Driving Pleasure.
