Just like the DKW Munga, the Type 181 has the image of a cult classic due to its angular styling, which leaves no doubt about its strictly functional purpose. At the American auction house Barrett-Jackson, a restored Type 181 was sold for over US$50,000. Logically, the highest amounts are paid for beautiful, unrestored cars in original condition with low mileage.
In recent years, various Type 181 models with a military background have been offered on the auction site eBay.
