1978 Volkswagen Double Cab 'Doka' Pick-up
The Volkswagen T2 Double Cab, or Doka, is now one of the most sought-after variants of the Bay Window range. Combining genuine commercial practicality with six-seat crew cab versatility, the long-wheelbase pick-up was never sold in large numbers in right hand drive UK form. Today, good original examples are extremely scarce, with most on the market being left hand drive imports. A solid, original UK truck is a real find.
First registered in the UK on an 'S' suffix in 1977 and finished in its original light yellow, believed to be Marino Yellow with a contrasting brown vinyl interior. This is a late T2b with the stronger 1973-on features, high indicators, large rear lights and more refined cab. This is a genuine barn find covered in a light layer of storage dust but appearing remarkably solid and complete. We are informed the vehicle has been off the road and in this same private ownership/storage for a considerable number of years. It will require some recommissioning before returning to the road, as you would expect, but presents as an exceptionally honest and original basis with the look of a well-preserved example. The front panel, cab doors, load bed and rear tailgates all appear original as do the factory steel wheels, chrome mirrors and original Volkswagen badge. These original right hand rive Dokas almost never come to market in this honest, untouched condition. One for the Volkswagen collector who values originality above all else. Consigned by Dominic Lake
