Description

4 years ago I sold a TVR Vixen with a 4 cylinder 100hp engine. Due to its low weight, this car drove like a go-kart. I couldn't afford the V8 Griffith for over €100,000, so I was all the more happy to have found this Vixen with the 3.5 liter Rover V8. A high compression and with a sharp camshaft help this engine to 190 hp. Just right for this lightweight. During the first test drive it was "Pedal to the metal" and I only took my foot off the gas at 180 km/h - I was scared!
The combination with a long 5-speed gearbox and long rear axle is perfectly matched. I'm 1.94 meters tall and, once I'm seated, I feel really comfortable in the cabin. The trellis frame looks excellent and overall the classic car is in good shape for English quality. However, I would replace the wooden dashboard. Technically, the racing car is brought to German standards in our workshop and you will receive a 2-year technical inspection.

Small independent English car company TVR started making racing cars in Blackpool in the 1950s. TVR, a contraction of the consonants in founder Trevor Wilkinson's first name, had its most successful period in the latter half of the 1950s into the 1960s. The Vixen model followed TVR's classic recipe for fast and light sports and racing cars with a tubular lattice chassis and fiberglass body. The Vixen came with a variety of four-cylinder engines from Ford, MG and Triumph. However, the most successful was the 2500 version with the in-line six-cylinder engine from the Triumph TR6. Because the Vixen is a bit lighter and had better aerodynamics than the TR6, it's also a bit faster. With independent suspension on all wheels and precise rack and pinion steering, the small sports car drives very well compared to many other cars of the time.
