After the TR5 Triumph decided to go for a new design and went to Karmann for the successors design. Whilst the look is quite different, under the skin matters are a lot more familiar with the TR6: the chassis, engines, suspension and doors were taken over from its predecessor. That is not necessarily a bad thing considering the delightful 6-cylinder with the manual 4-speed and optional overdrive give bundles of pleasure.
Fifty years ago this Triumph TR6 was delivered to its first proud owner. No doubt he was able to show off in his Coventry, England sturdy 2-seater roadster.

This tasteful navy blue TR has been in the Netherlands since 2001, has known three owners of which two owned the car each for over ten years. They were all enthusiasts who maintained the car with a lot f TLC. The Triumph is a proper drivers car, marrying sportiveness and pleasure in equal measures. The car has a great sounding 2.5 litre straight-six putting out 150 hp. The engine is coupled to a manual 4-speed with the popular overdrive option. The latter making distant trips as enjoyable as more sporty ventures out.

The car underwent full restoration in the past and still presents very well. The bodywork has original and straight, neatly aligned panelwork. The bodywork shows minimal signs of use commiserate with the car’s age and mileage. The TR6 has retained its original wheels shod in correctly sized rubber, giving this TR6 its well known muscular appearance.
Inside there are very neat, lovely age-correct bucket seats upholstered in corduroy and vinyl. The wooden dashboard and the Smiths instruments are in a very fine state of maintenance. All instruments work as intended. We also should not forget to mention the particularly tidy Sonnenland hood.

Mechanically all is sound with the straight-six performing at its best. Even after 45 years the TR6’s soundtrack never fails to excite. Brakes and suspension have been too well maintained adding their bit to good road handling. The precise transmission and overdrive work as they should. Underneath the TR is neat with no evidence of rust formation.

In short a very fine Triumph TR6 with a beautiful finish and great state of maintenance. A perfect drivers car to thoroughly enjoy!
