The Vehicle in Detail
I am selling my 912 Porsche SWB (Short Wheel Base) from September 1965, the first year of production, with the rare three green instruments and the original Solex carburetors. The vehicle was not registered until December 1966 and then imported to the USA. Reason: Porsche did not build any US versions in 1965; the 912 was only offered in Europe. This means that the first 912s to arrive in the USA were driven here for a few months and then imported to the USA, although the owner had to organize this himself. In Germany, after registration, the odometer was converted to a mileage speedometer at Porsche. The vehicle was returned to Germany in the early 2000s and professionally restored there.
This is not an over-restored classic, as I believe that a vehicle's age should still be noticeable, meaning that some parts have been given an authentic vintage car patina. The entire mechanical system has been extensively overhauled, making it a perfect vehicle for the 2025 season. While the 912, with its four cylinders and 90 hp, has less power than the 911, it still delivers driving pleasure. You'll be thrilled by its agility, acceleration, and sound. Of course, we (you) will test drive the car, and it will put a smile on your face. Further advantages of the 912 include significantly lower maintenance and fuel consumption.
Appraisal Grade 2 Classic Data (2018).
Technical data sheet available. According to the classic car report (KÜS), no deviations from the original condition were found; matching numbers according to the previous owner. The vehicle is registered and can be test-driven in good weather and, of course, inspected on the lift. The 912, with its four cylinders and 90 hp, may have less power than the 911, but it is still a real pleasure to drive.
The vehicle comes from my small collection, which I plan to downsize, so it is being sold with a heavy heart and due to time constraints.
While the vehicle was in my possession, the mechanical parts were extensively serviced and partially replaced by, for example, early 911S in Wuppertal or Fellner Sportwagenservice Remscheid. All invoices are available and can be viewed.
As a bonus, I am also including the limited edition Porsche 912 book by Jürgen Lewandowski. No. 655 of 912.
