History of the Series

The 964 model series of the Porsche 911 was produced from 1989 to 1994 and was a significant evolution of its predecessor, the 911 G model. Some of the most notable features of the 964 were the introduction of all-wheel drive (Carrera 4) and the availability of an automatic Tiptronic transmission.

In terms of design, the 964 retained many classic elements of the 911, but also received some modern updates. These included a slightly rounded body and a revised interior. Standard models were the Carrera 2, Carrera 4, Speedster and the Turbo.

The Carrera RS, Carrera RS 3.8 and the Turbo S were also available as special series. The 964 was a great success for Porsche and laid the foundation for the subsequent 911 model series. It is considered by many Porsche enthusiasts to be one of the best variants of the 911, as it offers the perfect balance between tradition and innovation.
