A classic 911 2.2T Targa, finished in its original and elegant Burgundy Red over black leatherette, retaining its matching-numbers engine and gearbox as well as its original colour combination, as confirmed by the Porsche Certificate of Authenticity.

Originally delivered to sunny California, this 911 perfectly combines provenance, originality, and the unmistakable charm of early air-cooled motoring.

The car remained in the United States until September 2005, supported by a substantial file of invoices documenting its American history. Imported to Belgium thereafter, it has been carefully cherished by just two Belgian owners, changing hands around 2016. Over the past two decades in Belgium, extensive maintenance has been carried out to keep the car in optimal mechanical condition, including a full engine rebuild and a full repaint in 2010 all supported by records.

The engine was rebuilt in 2017 and is equipped with stainless steel heat exchangers, hydraulic chain tensioners, reconditioned cylinder heads, new cylinder head studs, spark plug wires, valve covers, and more. Today, the engine still feels exceptionally strong and responsive.

The engine starts instantly and settles into a smooth idle, producing a characterful note with the slightest touch of the throttle. It revs freely through the range, while the gearbox delivers swift and precise shifts. Often underestimated, the carbureted 2.2-litre flat-six is wonderfully eager thanks to its light internal components, offering crisp throttle response and a lively character that belies its modest 125 horsepower — particularly given the careful attention typically afforded during engine rebuilds.

Most recently, a major overhaul was performed in our atelier with no expense spared, ensuring peace of mind for the next custodian for many kilometres and years to come. Works included tyres and shock absorbers, along with thorough mechanical servicing.

Equipped with the factory 14inch Fuchs alloy wheels shod on period Vredestein Sprint Classic tires, the Porsche 911 looks just right. The car is accompanied by its original toolkit, jack, spare wheel and tyre, the Porsche Certificate of Authenticity, and a comprehensive history file including numerous invoices. Even the original service record and key card are still there!

The 2.2T Targa offers a compelling blend of classic styling, mechanical purity, and real-world usability. Presented in a superb period colour combination, this example represents an outstanding opportunity to acquire one of the most charismatic open-top variants of the early 911.
