Description

  • Early “bent-window” coupé

  • Rare and elegant blue-over-blue color combination

  • Matching-numbers example

  • European-spec car, delivered new to Sweden

  • Exceptional collector condition

This Porsche 356 1300 Coupé is one of the rare early examples built in 1952, distinguished by its original one-piece "bent" windscreen and is one of the last so called body bumper cars. This car was delivered new to Sweden via the official Porsche agent Scania, and remains a beautifully preserved piece of early Porsche history.

Finished in a rare and highly attractive blue exterior with matching blue upholstery, this 356 has been comprehensively restored—both cosmetically and mechanically—to an exceptional standard. This is a true matching-numbers example, retaining its original Type 506 1.300cc engine, VW gearbox (per factory) and Reutter-built body.

The restoration was commissioned by its previous German owner, who acquired the car from Sweden in the early 2000s. The work was carried out around 2015 by the renowned German specialist mr. Kauhsen, with great attention to originality and period correctness.

A particularly rare and significant feature is that both the front hood and engine lid still retain their original factory-stamped numbers. This confirms they have never been replaced in the car’s 70-year history—clear evidence that it has never been involved in any major accidents or suffered from serious rust damage.

The matching engine is a finely tuned example, still equipped with its correct Solex 32 PBIC carburetors and early Mann air filters. It starts effortlessly at the turn of the key and revs smoothly throughout the range. Since its restoration, the car has covered just 95 kilometers. It has been regularly maintained, with the engine periodically run to preserve its mechanical integrity during storage.

The cabin features the correct square-weave carpet, an ivory-colored steering wheel and switchgear, and a fabulous Telefunken radio. Other details include the proper boomerang seat hinges, elegant early sun visors, and deep-dished Veigel gauges—complete with the correct 1952 200 km/h speedometer. You'll also find the rare pre-A handbrake, along with many other period-correct details.

The car comes with a Porsche Kardex confirming its configuration, restoration pictures, some history and invoices, and an in-depth valuation report by the respected German Porsche appraiser Mr. Kukuk.

Early "Pre-A" 356s like this one are increasingly rare—especially in such outstanding condition. As one of the foundational models of the Porsche legacy, it’s an essential piece for any serious collector. Beautifully finished and fully sorted, this remarkable 356 is ready to be driven or displayed with pride.
