Description

For sale is an extensively restored MGB GT with a performance-optimised 1.8L engine (104 hp) and numerous improvements. The vehicle is in excellent condition - both technically and visually - and has been maintained over the years with expertise and attention to detail.

History

  • Vehicle originally comes from the UK, transferred in 2011 by the Classic Car Company Bremen. They also took care of the classic car registration / H licence plate.
  • In my possession in Germany since 2012. Number of previous owners in the UK unknown. Only I am the registered owner in Germany.
  • Extensively restored in the following years. I can share a link to the photo documentation of the restoration in direct contact (unfortunately I can't insert it here directly).
  • Completion of the work in 2017, then Classic Data report with a rating of 2+

Technology & engine

General overhaul of the engine in 2017, after which the mileage was set to zero in the Classic Data report. Mileage since then: approx. 10,400 km (6,470 miles). Of which independent total mileage according to the counter 104,500 miles or 167,000 km

At that time, an electronic ignition from AccuSpark and manifold and exhaust from PECO Big Bore were also installed.

End of 2023, further engine optimisation included:

  • Peter Burgess ‘Big Valve Road Fast’ cylinder head
  • Kent Cams 717 camshaft
  • Adjustable camshaft sprocket
  • Newly built, ultrasonically cleaned carburettor system
  • Completely overhauled ignition distributor, re-booked and fine-tuned
  • Professional adjustment of the engine and carburettor system on dynometer by IOZ Mülheim-Kärlich

Result:

  • Harmonious engine running at low engine speeds, noticeable power development from approx. 3,000 rpm.
  • Documented maximum output: 103.8 hp, Vmax: 168 km/h
  • Exhaust emissions at the level of modern vehicles

Equipment & individualisation

  • 4-speed gearbox with overdrive
  • Sebring body kit
  • Minator aluminium wheels (5.5x15") with Bridgestone summer tyres
  • EBC brake system: Premium front discs, Black Stuff pads
  • LED headlights (Osram Nightbreaker) with ABE

  • New petrol pump & revision of the petrol system
  • New radiator + hoses, heat protection for carburettor
  • New oil cooler
  • New alternator
  • Numerous other detail improvements & adjustments
