Few vehicles encapsulate the carefree spirit of 1960s California quite like the Meyers Manx. Conceived by engineer, boat builder, artist and surfer Bruce F. Meyers, the Manx was introduced in 1964 as a lightweight recreational vehicle built around the proven mechanical components of the ubiquitous Volkswagen Beetle. Its distinctive fibreglass body, featuring pronounced wheel arches, an open cockpit and exposed rear engine, was designed to exploit the Beetle’s robust chassis, rear-engined traction and exceptional versatility. Equally at home on sand dunes, beaches and public roads, the Manx quickly became an icon of the emerging dune buggy movement. Combining influences from military Volkswagens and European beach cars, the Manx delivered simple, accessible motoring with a unique sense of fun. Its success was immediate, achieving notable victories in off-road competition and inspiring countless imitators, becoming one of the most copied automotive designs of its era. Today, the Meyers Manx is recognised as a landmark of American automotive culture and remains one of the most desirable and collectible dune buggies ever produced, celebrated for its innovative design, enduring appeal and unmistakable character.

First registered on 1st April 1972, this genuine Meyers Manx is accompanied by a Certificate of Authenticity from Meyers Manx, confirming its status as a Bruce Meyers designed dune buggy. Finished in vibrant orange and based on proven Volkswagen Beetle mechanicals, the Manx remains one of the most iconic recreational vehicles ever produced. This example has covered just 1,685 miles since a ground up build by leading UK specialist Buggy Builders and is offered with a comprehensive history file containing numerous invoices and receipts. It is fitted with a tuned and highly detailed 1776cc engine running twin Empi carburettors, genuine Meyers Manx stainless steel sidewinder exhaust, serpentine belt kit, electronic ignition and fuel pump. Inside you’ll find a Grant steering wheel, Empi short shifter, three-point retractable seatbelts and a removable hardtop for when the sun isn't shining as much. Also included are the V5 registration document and a current MoT test certificate valid until July 2027. A rare opportunity to acquire an authentic and highly collectible Meyers Manx.
