Mercedes‑Benz 450 SL (R107), year 1977. Chassis (VIN) number 10704412041171. Finished in brown metallic with a pale brown interior and brown carpeting, complemented by a dark brown soft‑top and a body‑colour hard‑top. This fabulous Mercedes‑Benz 450 SL was delivered new in the United States. In 2019 the car was imported from Arizona into the Netherlands, where it has since had one enthusiastic owner. Upon arrival, the car was updated with the correct European chrome bumpers and headlamp units. Over the past years, the car has been thoroughly serviced and brought fully up to date mechanically and technically.
The result is a 450 SL in excellent condition that drives like new. From day one the car has covered 133,308 miles. The service book was maintained until 1982, at which point the car had covered 78,516 miles. All original factory booklets are present. The 1970s color combination is warm, elegant, and wonderfully evocative of the era. The lively brown metallic paintwork, enhanced by gold pinstriping along the flanks, pairs beautifully with the golden‑brown tones of the interior. The cabin is in pristine condition. The bodywork shows perfect panel fit, superb paint quality, and immaculate chrome brightwork. The steel wheels with their original 1970s hub caps complete the classic presentation. A full inspection confirms that this Mercedes‑Benz 450 SL has been cherished by enthusiasts. The engine bay, boot, and underside all appear super original and exceptionally clean. All factory decals are still present, as is the original Mercedes‑Benz tool set.
The car is fitted with a period‑correct Becker Mexico stereo with cassette player. This Mercedes‑Benz 450 SL is a wonderful time capsule and a delight to drive. The powerful V8 engine runs perfectly, and the automatic 4‑speed gearbox shifts with butter‑smooth precision. The car can be driven lazily on its abundant torque, yet a firm push on the throttle engages the kickdown and propels the car towards 120 miles per hour with a glorious V8 soundtrack. A gorgeous example of the legendary R107 series, presented in excellent condition. A true gem for the classic Mercedes‑Benz enthusiast.
