Mercedes-Benz 300 SDL Turbo Diesel (W126) – Historic (VS) – US Origin – Documented Provenance
Offered is a rare and highly original Mercedes-Benz 300 SDL Turbo Diesel (W126 long wheelbase), a flagship S-Class model built in December 1986 (model year 1987) for the US market.
This example stands out due to its documented history, originality, and preserved condition.
Provenance:
The car retains its original US title (Massachusetts), where it was owned by Jon Soligan, a retired US Air Force Major with a distinguished military career. His family includes a son who achieved the rank of Major General in the US Air Force.
The vehicle still features original US military base stickers (Hanscom Air Force Base), reinforcing its authentic connection to its first owner and adding unique historical character.
Production and rarity:
Out of more than 818,000 W126 vehicles produced in total, only approximately 13,830 units were built as 300 SDL Turbo Diesel, making this version one of the rarer and more distinctive variants of the W126 range.
Condition:
– Very well-preserved original interior (leather and wood in excellent condition)
– Dashboard without cracks
– Solid body with no major visible corrosion
– Underside in good condition
– Engine bay complete and original
– 3.0 Turbo Diesel engine running well, known for durability
The car presents itself as an honest, unmodified example with strong visual and historical appeal. It has been imported from the United States and now carries official historic vehicle status (VS), recognized in Europe.
The car has successfully passed technical inspection (CSDD) with no remarks and is valid until April 2027, confirming its good mechanical condition and roadworthiness.
