Description

  • One of only 20 Fanalones built

  • Chassis 1103: one of the first road cars registered in the series

  • Engine and transmission re-built by Richard Thorne and Omicron in 2009/10

  • 3000 miles since engine re-build

One of the approximately 20 Fanalones built in 1969 by Lancia in RHD at the request of Lancia GB Ltd.

These cars were identical to the LHD Fanalones mechanically but for the UK market were fitted with stainless steel bumpers, glass to the side windows instead of Plexi and had thin floor carpets instead of rubber mats.

This particular chassis 1103 is one of the first road cars built after the works competition cars. It is finished in the rare colour of Jamaica Blue and has the optional Fusina steering wheel.

It was first registered on the 3rd September 1969 in Cheshire but I have no information as yet on either the first or second owner.

The third owner I believe was David Scheldt of Scheldt and Pettet, Lancia specialists in London. I understand he used the car in various competition events over a number of years before eventually selling it to the fourth owner David MacKenzie? of London.

He restored the car over a number of years and it appeared at an event at Covent Garden in September 2003.

The car was then acquired in 2009 by the fifth owner, a Swiss gentleman, who had homes in the UK. He undertook a complete mechanical refresh both at Richard Thorne and Omicron where the engine and gearbox were rebuilt.

I purchased the car from Lukas Huni, Zurich, Switzerland in 2013. The car had not been formally exported from the UK so retained it’s UK V5.

It has required further cosmetic work in my ownership to get it to the condition it is in today and has covered about 3K miles since the engine / gearbox rebuild.
