Description

SKW436J was manufactured on the 20th of October 1970 for the U.K. RHD Home Market, leaving the factory with manual transmission and in the beautiful colour combination of Regency Red with Beige upholstery. The car has covered just 74,000 miles from new and by 1989 the V12 had totalled 52,000 miles and came into the hands of a Mr F.W Clarke, a time-served engineer. Mr. Clarke carried out a detailed and thorough mechanical restoration to an incredibly high standard spanning two years whilst Fullbridge Restoration Company were commissioned to rebuild and repaint the body. Although an older restoration with a degree of originality, this V12 presents incredibly well as great testament to the high-quality workmanship.

The restoration was completed in 1994 and at this point the Jaguar was presented to a specialist for a valuation. Paperwork confirms the bodywork and mechanicals were in first-class/concours condition and all these years on the car has an impressive appearance. Mr. Clarke wasted no time in enjoying his labour of love attending shows almost annually from 1995, collecting plaques which sit alongside the original service book, document pack, and a wealth of invoices in the file.

In 2009, the Stromberg carbs were upgraded to SU carbs supplied by Burlen Fuels. The 30-year ownership came to an end in 2019 having covered just 14,000 miles since the restoration. More recently in 2025, the E-Type has been with a classic car specialist having a service, a new oil filter housing. antifreeze change, replacing an array of suspension bushes, replacing the differential output shaft seals, and a differential fluid change costing nearly £6,000. With the recent refresh, taking this Jaguar V12 on the road is a true delight, the 5343cc V12 power plant pulls firmly, and the manual gearbox feels exceptionally fit. The OPUS electronic ignition and SU carbs ensure the smoothness of the ride is not compromising the ultimate GT experience of a Series III E-Type.

This has the feel of a very correct, original car in original colours, with superb paperwork. This is a high-quality example that is ready to use and enjoy.
