Restored to the highest standard with matching numbers. Additionally, during the restoration, we customised the car for the buyer with air conditioning discreetly fitted to the interior, the JAGUAR CLASSIC 5-speed gearbox and historically correct 6 x 15-inch Competition Curley hub wire wheels with 205-series tyres.
This ensures pleasant interior temperatures even on longer summer journeys and allows for reduced engine revs on the motorway, whilst maintaining crisp and short gear ratios in the lower four gears.
The chassis number, engine number and gearbox number, along with the original Moss box, are present and match the Heritage certificate exactly. The colour combination of Opalescent Dark Blue with a red interior is a perfect match, looks stunning and has all the right touches. Authentic, elegant, sporty and cool.
This E-Type was born on 17 October 1962. It left the JAGUAR factory on 4 December 1962 and was shipped to the USA, to New York. America had no serious sports cars of its own, loved the E-Type and had deep pockets. As a result, almost 70% of left-hand-drive E-Types were sold to the USA.
In 2021, this E-Type was found in incredible condition. It had matching numbers, a very solid body and all the key chrome fittings. Thanks to its excellent condition, nothing stood in the way of a nut-and-bolt restoration. This restoration took 1½ years and 2,300 hours of work by our experts.
Every single screw was examined by hand, all cavities were opened up, and only body panels that could not be repaired were professionally cut out and replaced with new ones. Great care was taken to work exactly as the Jaguar factory did in 1962. All weld points are correct, every detail is in its place, and only tin was used on the surfaces instead of filler. A technique that is now mastered and applied by only a few specialists. The gap dimensions, the surfaces and the flat body panels speak for themselves. Two coats of clear lacquer were applied and additionally sealed with ceramic.
The E-Type was originally delivered in Cream with a Red interior. We have opted for an authentic 1962 factory colour combination. Opalescent Dark Blue was only available ex-works for the 3.8-litre E-Type until June 1964.
The engine was tested on an engine test bench before being fitted into the E-Type. Once the full restoration was complete, we carried out extensive test drives before handing the car over to its current owner. In the meantime, this beautiful coupé has covered a total of 1,480 km. It is therefore as good as new and, at the same time, fully run in. This E-Type offers you the highest quality, enhanced comfort thanks to the air conditioning and the 5-speed gearbox, and exceptional driving pleasure.
A dream car in the 1960s just as much as it is today.
