Description

Few American cars embody the spirit of the 1960s quite as vividly as the Ford Mustang. When it was introduced in 1964, it captured the mood of the era almost perfectly: sporty styling, compact dimensions, a wide range of equipment and a price that made it accessible to a broad section of the buying public. For the first time in this form, Ford combined the appearance of a sporting coupé with the everyday practicality of a mass-produced motor car – establishing a model lineage that continues to this day.

From the outset, one of the Mustang’s greatest attractions was the opportunity to combine it with a powerful V8. The 289-cubic-inch V8 became one of the defining engines of the early Mustang years. Paired with rear-wheel drive and an automatic transmission, it created a car that combined traditional American V8 culture with a comparatively compact and agile body. The Mustang was therefore less a no-compromise sports car than a distinctive concept positioned somewhere between a sporting coupé, comfortable everyday car and classic American cruiser.

The 1965 Mustang Coupé offered here was originally delivered to Switzerland, giving it a particularly interesting history for the local market. It has been in the ownership of its current female owner for around 13 years, during which time she has also driven the Mustang herself. This long period of personal use underlines the car’s character as a genuinely enjoyed classic rather than merely a collector’s piece. The vehicle is registered as a veteran (last inspection in 2019, next MFK inspection due), including an international FIVA Identity Card (issued in 2001), which perfectly documents the long-standing collector status and history of this classic.

Visually, the Mustang presents in white with a black leather interior. This classic colour combination suits the characteristic styling of the early Mustang generation exceptionally well, accentuating its period appearance. With an indicated odometer reading of 32,665 kilometres, the coupé also offers an interesting starting point for its next owner.

The Mustang is in used, overall good condition and is in keeping with its age, providing a solid basis for continued care and enhancement. For a dedicated enthusiast, this presents a great opportunity to preserve the vehicle’s individual character, further strengthen its existing substance and ensure that this special Mustang continues to provide enjoyment for many years to come.
