Build at the Atlanta Ford Factory as a special order for the first owner in Jacksonville Florida.
Now for sale after some 30 years of ownership because of healthissues after multiple operations and plans to move to another home.
A solid car in good condition. It has always been parked in a garage
2 door Sports Coupe, very rare and beautiful car, a great cruiser.
Overhauled 302 V8 engine plus new waterpump and distributoin/timing chain, it runs beautiful.
Recently overhauled automatic gearbox by a professional gearbox mechanic.
It's as good as new now.
Older body off restauration and new paint (original Wimbledon White).
New Powerstearing pump
Stainless Steel exhaust. You will never need a other one.
Runs on petrol but also has a Lpg system.
Brakecilinders and brakeshoes have been replaced , wheel hubs are in good condition and there where no braking issues before the car was left sitting in the garage for some years.
The original 2 core radiator has been replaced by a 3 core radiator (for improved cooling).
Chrome wheels with new tires (white wall)
Rear shock breakers are adjustable by compressed air and can lower or rise the car.
This system alows you to change the stand of the car to your liking in minutes.
Also very handy when moving heavy loads in the trunk.
Bucketseats have been upholsted with new leather, rear seat is in good condition.
Electronic ignition, new sparkplugs and wires.
Replaced startermotor.
Modern alternator
New fuelpump and fuelfilter.
Wheel bearings have been replaced.
Economical to drive for a V8 because of the relative low weight of the car (27-30 mpg) dependent on your driving style of course ;)
Fueltank has been cleaned and a new fuel quantity measuring module was installed.
Replaced trunk rubber/seal
Good battery.
Lots of other small things have been replaced or fixed aswell
Mechanical parts are easily obtainable.
Workshop Manual plus workshop supplement come with the car.
All of the technical information, maintenace and repair instructions are in there.
Comes with lots of “The Fairlane Club of America” magazines and a few miniture Fairlane (toy) cars.
A stylish and elegant car and there are not many left in the world today.
It was used many times for weddings and fotoshoots for music bands.
*In the Netherlands this car does not need a warrant of fitness (W.O.F/A.P.K.) and no road-tax has to be payed.
Insurance is around 100 euro's a year and the value of the car will only go up in time.
Unfortunately there are also some things that need fixing or could be improved..
After the owner had to deal with health issues the car has been sitting in the garage for a number of years.
And further completion of the restauration had to stop.
The brakes are working but not as good as they should and did before.
Carburator drips a little fuel (needs new gasked)
Also the car pulls to the right a bit when braking hard. The brakes probably need to loosen up and/or get adjusted.
Also the front wheels start vibrating now at about 40 mph. Perhaps due to a faulty shockabsorber, brake problem or wheelbalancing ..
The power steering controle valve is dripping a little bit of ATF fluid.. A revision kit for it has already been obtained and comes with the car.
There's a small paint damage spot on the lid of the trunk (2 cm). It has already been worked on and is now ready for painting.
The brake fluid reservoir could use a new cap.. (is has dents and a small crack).
The chrome on the valve covers, wheels and a bumper is not perfect anymore but still nice enough and shiny.
The headliner (roof-liner) has a tear in it and loose stiches.
The inside doorpanels are in poor condition and may need new upholstering or replacement.
A rubber/seal of 1 roll down rear window needs fixing or replacement.
Despite these issues this is a very nice project and opportunity for a Usa-car/ Ford/ Fairlane fan to finish the restauration and enjoy this rare and special car like the owner does. And hopefully keep it going for another 63 years ;)
The car was appraised at 30.000 some 25 years ago and it has had lots of improvements after that.
An acquantance and also a Fairlane owner who does car taxations for a living did some resurch on this model and states this car is worth about 35.000 euro's today if it is in perfect condition..
Since this is not the case anymore and some work still needs to be done a 23.950 euro asking price seems fair (lane) ;)
