Very rare CX 2500D Familiale 5-speed Super in a very good original condition. Delivered new in Spain, which explains everything. This CX is rock solid and bone dry. This Citroën has never seen salt. Comes with extensive history, including Spanish registration, maintenance invoices and MOT forms. The odometer reads 21,855 km and I have been told that this is 121,855 genuine kilometres. Given the condition of the car, the upholstery and all the details, this is very plausible. The current Dutch owner discovered this Familiale in Spain and did not hesitate for a moment. A CX Familiale has become very rare, especially in this neat, unrestored condition.

The CX Break and Familiale were very popular at the time, thanks to a number of strong advantages for large families: no less than 2 square metres of boot space and/or room for up to 8 people. What other passenger car could offer that? It was the first Citroën with a transversely mounted engine. It also had a beautifully eccentric appearance, reliable and economical engines and the famous hydropneumatic suspension. If you wanted even more space, you had to buy a people carrier with all the disadvantages that came with it, such as a lack of comfort and the looks of a delivery van.

The CX was originally delivered in the colour ‘Gris Perle AC 073’ and, as with many classic cars, the body has been repainted once. The Spanish owner loved green and chose this beautiful light metallic colour. The quality of the paintwork is good and the paint has just been professionally polished. The exterior looks great, with some normal signs of wear. Just an honest CX. Many stainless steel and chrome parts are still original. The chrome work is neat, with slight signs of wear that are appropriate for its age. The hollow parts have been treated and I have not been able to find any rust. The doors close nicely and the seams are neat.

The interior is a wonderful time capsule. The corduroy upholstery looks remarkably good with only slight signs of wear, which is unique after 45 years. The Familiale has spacious seats, two (!) rear seats and a sea of space. Registered as an 8-seater estate car. The original upholstery has not discoloured, which is proof that the car has been stored indoors for most of its life. The dashboard also has no cracks and everything works as it should. The interior has a number of nice details, such as removable cushions on the headrests and sun visors on the side of each rear seat. The headliner looks like new, which is also unique!
