Driven in the “Peking to Paris 1997” Rally!
A particularly beautiful and unique 1956 Chevrolet 3100 ‘Task Force’ 235 6-cylinder pick-up truck. The former owner, a Dutch rally legend (driven over 500 rallies, primarily with Porsche and BMW) and classic car enthusiast, owned this Chevy for 31 years. Purchased in 1995 in California (San Jacinto) and subsequently body-off restored with modifications for the “Peking to Paris 1997” rally, FIVA passport. This is one of the 94 cars that drove the 16,000 km from the Great Wall of China to the heart of Paris in the 1997 rally. In addition to all costs for the car, the entry fee was 25,000 British pounds. It has not been driven since and has always been stored indoors in the collection. Modifications include a Borg-Warner T5 gearbox, power steering rack (BMW, ZF), power brakes, 12-volt AC alternator, larger cooling blades, halogen fog lights, electric wipers and washer, electrically adjustable seats with adjustable lumbar support, tachometer, temperature gauge, radio, extra air suspension on the rear axle, heavy-duty stabilizer bar on the front axle, KONI shock absorbers all around, and a Westfalia tow bar. The original front bench seat and rims are included separately.
This pickup is in excellent condition, is spotless from top to bottom, has a beautiful paint finish, and features a chrome grille and bumpers. Thanks to the modern modifications, it is much more user-friendly, and the inline 6-cylinder engine runs truly like new! In short, a unique ‘Task Force’ pickup with rally history and Dutch registration.
