Chevrolet Corvette C2 Sting Ray Roadster, model year 1965, 5304cm3, 198kW / 269 hp
After the American sports car market was dominated by European brands in the early 1950s, the time had come for General Motors in 1952 to counter the British, German and Italian offerings with an equivalent American sports car.
Thus, in June 1952, development of the first Corvette (C1) got underway, and it was actually presented just a few months later, in early 1953.
Especially the early C1 models (1953 to 1962) and C2 models (Sting Ray, 1962 to 1967) are sought-after rarities today and, due to their appeal as well as their scarcity, are always welcome guests at rallies and car shows.
Our C2 Sting Ray was first registered in the USA in 1965, but had already arrived in Germany via Bremerhaven in December 1990, where proof of customs clearance was issued by the Bremen Customs Office on 21 December 1990. In addition to a copy of the last US title, the vehicle documents also include the first German vehicle registration document, issued on 29 May 1991.The Corvette was restored in the USA before 1990 with great expertise and exclusively using genuine GM parts in a "frame-off" restoration, and was acquired by a German Corvette specialist with a mileage of 2,100 miles since restoration.
Its current owner has driven and cared for the car since 2009 -- and for this entire period, from 2009 to 2026, extensive documentation of all maintenance, repair and optimization work carried out is available. The C2 has therefore always been serviced and maintained without regard to cost, with the result that its entire mechanicals, as well as its bodywork and interior, are in excellent condition.
The 5.3-liter V8 bursts into life and immediately runs smoothly on all cylinders. It responds to the throttle without delay and revs up incredibly quickly and energetically.
The sound: deep, bassy and powerful -- not too loud, but with a strong presence!
... Goosebumps ...
This powerplant is paired with an extremely crisp 4-speed manual transmission with short shift throws, making this C2 a genuine sports car ... confident and powerful at every engine speed.
The steering, often noticeably vague in US cars with a poor maintenance history, is also precise. The Corvette tracks straight and turns in willingly. It is hard to imagine a more "honest" driving experience.
An advantage of the C2 Sting Ray from the 1965 model year onward is the four-wheel disc brake system introduced at that point, which genuinely works very well and, compared with the earlier drum brakes, provides excellent stopping power and significantly improved fade resistance.
Underbody, frame rails, sills, wheel arches, suspension components: our C2 is rust-free and unmodified.
The bodywork is equally clean, with very good panel fit throughout, correct shut lines and a very high-quality paint finish that in no way reveals its age (restored before 1990).
The interior is just as impressive: dreamlike, with high-quality controls and instruments as well as beautifully preserved and exceptionally comfortable leather seats.
Get in, relax and off you go ...
The Corvette is ready to drive immediately. It already has historic registration, and the TÜV main inspection will be renewed before handover. The mileage stated above is the distance driven in miles since restoration.
On request, we will deliver this beautiful vehicle to your doorstep at cost.
