The Bentley Azure was launched in 1995 and was in fact a convertible version of the popular Bentley Continental R. Pininfarina was responsible for the development and design of the Azure. The English certainly know how to do it, the Continental R is also truly magnificent, but the Italians are really good at designing cars that have an unparalleled beauty. A beauty that is also not subject to fashion trends. It is also the last Bentley convertible before the VW era was heralded.
This certainly also applies to the technology. The engine was the 6750 cc V8 that was originally launched in 1959 and has been continuously developed and improved. The Azure initially got the turbocharged version with 360 hp and a four-speed automatic transmission. In 1997, the turbo engines were given a higher power and the Azure also benefited from this. The power now increased to 385 hp, which this Azure from model year 1998 is also equipped with. This allows the Bentley to accelerate to 100 km/h in 6.3 seconds and, even with a kerb weight of 2610 kg, reach a top speed of 249 km/h. Still excellent values in 2025: sufficient power, not only according to the factory.
In this model year 1998, the Azure got a small facelift that can be recognized by the grilles under the headlights and the matrix grille. The Azure also got the new 17-inch rims in model year 1998, like on this Bentley. This Bentley Azure was delivered new in the United States and has been on a Dutch registration since 2015.
The car is finished in black (Black Basecoat) with a black hood and a beautiful contrasting Sandstone leather interior with black piping. As an extra option, the car was delivered new with a wooden gear lever and an extra thick, partly wooden steering wheel. The Bentley measures no less than 5.34 meters and offers space for four adults. Of course, it is equipped with all the luxury accessories from the nineties, including an electrically operated hood and automatic air conditioning.
The Azure is being sold on behalf of a customer and is delivered without service and without warranty. The buyer is free to have a pre-purchase inspection carried out at our premises at his/her own expense.
