The Austin Healey 3000 was introduced in July 1959. The cars were assembled alongside BMC’s MG models at its works in Abingdon with its bodywork being supplied by Jenson Motors. The “Big Healey” as the 3000 was nicknamed was powered by a 3-litre six-cylinder engine with twin SU carburettors. This produced impressive performance with a claimed 0-60mph of just 11 secs and onto a top speed of 115mph. The Healey’s reliability and performance enabled the 3000 to quickly establish itself both on the racing circuit and proved very competitive on rally events.

The Austin Healey 3000 MKII offered at Autostorico is finished in its original colour scheme of Ivory White with Black leather interior trim and Black hood. Delivered on 18th October 1963 to its first owner a British army officer in Dusseldorf, Germany and specified with the following options: Heater, Wire wheels, Laminated windscreen, Miles per hour speedometer, Roadspeed tyres, Octagonal wheelnuts, Steering column lock, 4 speed gearbox with overdrive on 3rd and 4th gear, Black tonneau cover and exhaust system.

The car returned to the UK in November 1965 and was immediately registered with the DVLA and converted to RHD. Purchased by its current owner in 2018 an avid Austin Healey enthusiast. He undertook a no expense spared nut and bolt restoration carried out by marque specialist JME Austin Healey’s of Warwick. Works included removing the engine, gearbox and stripping the whole body, before a bare metal respray. The car was also subject to a full mechanical overhaul including a complete engine rebuild along with an overhaul of the entire drivetrain. Other notable works included full re-wire, full interior re-trim including carpets, seats, hood and tonneau. Brake upgrade including fitting a brake servo and new wire wheels and tyres.

The car comes complete with an extensive history file including a current V5 registration document, heritage certificate, original buff logbook and restoration invoices totalling £112,500.
