Just like the DKW Munga, the Type 181 has the image of a cult classic due to its angular styling, which leaves no doubt about its strictly functional purpose. The roof and doors are removable without tools, and the windshield folds down, similar to a Jeep. At the American auction house Barrett-Jackson, a restored Type 181 was sold for over US$50,000. Logically, the highest amounts are paid for beautiful, unrestored cars in original condition with low mileage.
In recent years, various Type 181 models with a military background have been offered on the auction site eBay.
