When Porsche introduced the successor to the 996 in 2004 it was immediately clear what the intention was. The 996 had brought the 911 into a new era, but some enthusiasts felt that a few classic elements were missing. Porsche listened. The new 997 therefore returned to the recognizable round headlights that strongly recall earlier generations of the 911. At the same time the car was further developed in almost every respect.
