THE PORSCHE 911

In 1969, Porsche introduced a legend, the 911S. If heat transfer (as in the cylinder heads) or stiffness (as in the cam boxes) wasn't a requirement every alloy in the 901/02 engine was replaced with magnesium. Titanium alloy – unprecedented in 1969 – was chosen for connecting rods. Dual ignition ensured both rapid ignition in the combustion chambers and reliability. Triple-throat carbs were abandoned for Bosch Mechanical Fuel Injection and their characteristics were augmented by bigger valves and higher lift cams with more aggressive timing.

This 911 S

The example presented here is offered from a private collection and comes from the hands of a true enthusiast. It is now being made available due to a change in the collection. A Porsche Certificate of Authenticity confirms its original specification as code 6809 Tangerine with a black leatherette interior, as well as its matching-numbers status.

Delivered new in Germany, this 911S was exported to the United States just two years later by a U.S. soldier—believed to be its original owner. The car is understood to have remained in the U.S. for approximately 25 years, adding an intriguing chapter to its transatlantic history.

Repatriated to Europe around 2006, the car was first registered in Norway before moving to Belgium in 2012. It has since remained in the careful custody of its current owner, who has preserved it to this day.

The interior remains largely original, with the exception of the seats, which have been replaced by Recaro-style sport seats (copies), complemented by period-style harness seat belts. Mechanically, the car has been well maintained and regularly serviced. Most recently, this striking Tangerine 911 received a comprehensive service, including attention to the braking and electrical systems, the installation of new shock absorbers, and a new set of Porsche-approved Pirelli tyres fitted to the classic alloy Fuchs wheels.

The 911S lineage—from the original 2.0-litre version of 1967 through to the 2.4-litre variant of 1973—represents the pinnacle of genuine sports car engineering of its era. At a time when many Italian and British rivals were becoming increasingly heavy and complex, Porsche remained true to its founding philosophy: producing lightweight, highly responsive machines equally at home on the Mulsanne Straight as in everyday traffic.

Starting instantly at the turn of the key, this 911S delivers exactly the character enthusiasts expect from a 1969 mechanical fuel-injected example. Gearshifts are smooth and precise, while the 2.0-litre flat-six feels exceptionally eager. With its high-compression ratio, short-stroke design, and 170 hp delivered at 6,800 rpm, the engine is renowned for its willingness to rev—something this example demonstrates perfectly, pulling strongly and cleanly all the way to the redline.

For those considering one of the finest production sports cars of the 1960s, this 911S presents a compelling opportunity. Its free-revving 2.0-litre fuel-injected engine delivers spirited performance, accompanied by the unmistakable flat-six soundtrack, all finished in one of the most desirable factory colour combinations. Offered with manual, its Porsche Certificate of Authenticity, and a comprehensive history file, this outstanding example is ready for its next custodian.

The car is sold on behalf of a client.
