1993 | Mercedes-Benz 500 SL

The SL R129 series was produced from 1989 to 2001. It was the successor to the legendary R107 and underwent three model updates during its 12-year production run.

The R129 featured various technical innovations, particularly in the area of safety: an automatic roll bar that deploys within 0.3 seconds in the event of a rollover, buckling-resistant A-pillars, integral seats, traction control (ASR) and, later, the ESP system.

Our 500SL from 1993 is therefore an original model and has a mileage of only 99,100 kilometres. The classic colour combination of 199 blue-black metallic with side panelling in contrasting 700 old grey, black soft top fabric and grey leather does not suggest that we have a truly special vehicle in front of us.

A professional performance package from the former Lotec tuner (now TTP Automotive), consisting mainly of a supercharger, adapted control electronics and a racing metal catalytic converter, gives the already powerful 500 an additional 72 hp and turns it into a powerful mile-eater. With its unassuming power delivery of 700 Nm at 4,500 rpm, it stands out pleasantly from the rowdy cars of today. The contemporary and therefore H-approved (and, of course, TÜV-approved and registered) tuning kit is rounded off with larger brakes (from the 600SL) and large 18" AMG wheels.

Seat memory, sound system and the rare rear seats, among other features, round off the harmonious package that we are offering on behalf of the owner.

Service history:

This SL has been extremely well maintained by four owners over three decades. In total, the current owner has invested more than €48,000 (!!!) in the maintenance and improvement of the 500SL from 2015 to the present day.
