Mercedes-Benz G-Class G 400 CDI Limited Edition (W463)
As the Mercedes-Benz G-Class evolved through the late 1990s and early 2000s, the W463 series marked a decisive step toward higher performance and enhanced refinement without compromising the model’s legendary off-road capability. Gradually, more powerful and sophisticated powertrains were introduced, culminating in the arrival of AMG-specified variants and advanced diesel technology.
In 1999, the first AMG-developed G-Class entered the market with a naturally aspirated V8 producing 260 kW (354 hp), setting new benchmarks for performance in the segment. Shortly thereafter, Mercedes-Benz expanded the G-Class diesel lineup with the introduction of CDI common-rail technology for the 2001 model year. These engines delivered significantly improved power, torque, and efficiency, positioning the G-Class at the forefront of luxury off-road vehicles at the beginning of the new millennium.
Offered here is the G 400 CDI Limited Edition, produced between 2001 and 2005 and built in Austria. This particular vehicle is Limited Edition number 12 of just 250 units, with chassis number WDB 463 3331X 156470, making it a rare and highly collectible example of the model.
Powered by a (M628) 4.0-liter V8 bi-turbo diesel engine, the G 400 CDI delivers 184 kW (250 PS) at 4,000 rpm, combining exceptional torque with long-distance comfort and remarkable durability. Performance figures remain impressive even by modern standards, with a top speed of 184 km/h and acceleration from 0–100 km/h in 9.9 seconds. Manufacturer-quoted fuel consumption is 12.8 liters of diesel per 100 km, reflecting the efficiency gains of CDI technology.
