De G-Klasse verscheen in 1979 als robuuste terreinwagen. Mercedes-Benz ontwikkelde hem samen met Steyr-Daimler-Puch in Graz. In 1990 volgde de luxere W463-serie, en daarmee groeide de G van werkpaard uit tot een gewilde luxe terreinwagen. Midden jaren negentig ontstond uit de nieuwe samenwerking tussen Mercedes-Benz en AMG de G36 AMG. Dit was de eerste G-Klasse die af-fabriek de AMG-behandeling kreeg, en dus de voorloper van alle krachtige G’s die daarna kwamen. Met slechts 120 gebouwde exemplaren is dit een van de zeldzaamste G-modellen ooit. Onder de kap ligt de 3.6 liter zescilinder lijnmotor, gekoppeld aan een automatische versnellingsbak. De permanente vierwielaandrijving en drie inschakelbare differentieel sperren zorgen ervoor dat deze G36 AMG nog steeds een echte terreinwagen is. Van dit exemplaar is de onderhoudshistorie aanwezig, net als de originele boekjes. De teller staat op 94.603 kilometer en de auto verkeert in zeer goede staat.

Het zilvergrijze lakwerk benadrukt de strakke, hoekige lijnen van de G-Klasse. De zwarte sierlijsten op de flanken geven er een sportief accent aan. De vijfspaaks AMG lichtmetalen velgen, de RVS treeplanken en de reservewielhoes met AMG-embleem op de achterdeur laten meteen zien dat dit geen gewone G klasse is. De ronde koplampen en mistlampen in de bumper houden het klassieke gezicht intact. Binnen wacht een zwart lederen interieur. Daarin zitten elektrisch verstelbare stoelen en ook de deurpanelen zijn in leder bekleed. Het stuurwiel en de pookknop met houten afwerking passen mooi bij de houtaccenten op het dashboard en de middenconsole, waar ook de bediening van de differentieel sperren zit. Cruise control, elektrische ramen en een schuifdak maken de uitrusting compleet. Het zwarte leder en het warme hout geven het interieur een luxe, klassieke uitstraling, die mooi contrasteert met het koele zilvergrijs van de carrosserie. Een zeldzame AMG-pionier die zich even thuis voelt op de boulevard als in het terrein.

The G-Class was introduced in 1979 as a rugged off-road vehicle, developed by Mercedes-Benz in collaboration with Steyr-Daimler-Puch in Graz. The more luxurious W463 series followed in 1990, transforming the G-Class from a workhorse into a highly sought-after luxury off-roader. In the mid-1990s, a new partnership between Mercedes-Benz and AMG gave rise to the G36 AMG. This was the first G-Class to receive the AMG treatment directly from the factory, serving as the precursor to all the high-performance G-Class models that followed. With only 120 units ever produced, it remains one of the rarest G-Class models in existence. Under the hood lies a 3.6-liter inline-six engine, paired with an automatic transmission. Permanent four-wheel drive and three engageable differential locks ensure that this G36 AMG remains a true off-road vehicle.
