In late 1956, the Citroën ID (idée) was presented to the public. Outwardly, this car was broadly similar to the DS, but for price reasons it was a 'stripped-down' variant with simpler technology, lower engine power, and a more austere finish. The car was aimed at a less affluent and also more conservative public. The ID once again featured a clutch pedal and a conventional gear lever, allowing for a significantly simplified hydraulic system, and the slightly simpler hydraulically assisted brakes were operated by a 'normal' brake pedal. The futuristic nylon dashboard was replaced by a more commonplace (steel) design for the time.[62] The cheapest version, specifically for the French domestic market, the ID 'Normale', did not even have power steering, a lack that had to be compensated for by an extra-large steering wheel. The export models and the later, increasingly luxurious versions of the ID (from 1970 onwards: named D Spécial, D Super, and D Super 5) did have power steering and other features of the DS, but—except in the station wagons, the 'break'—lacked the 'brake mushroom', and the hydraulic semi-automatic clutch and gear shifting system remained exclusive to the DS.

This Citroen ID is a very original 1968 model, specifically the version with the dual headlights that give the car a somewhat more modern appearance. This Citroen ID has been in the possession of the previous owner for a long time. He purchased the car in 2009 and has always meticulously maintained it at the Citroen garage recommended by the Stichting Partnergarage Citroen ID/DS Club Nederland. All invoices are available for inspection. The car has received a Dinitrol treatment and new upholstery on the front seats with headrests. Furthermore, the car has power steering, a tow bar, a 123 ignition system, and an LPG installation fitted.

This is a very well-driving Citroen that has always been driven and maintained. A beautiful ID b for the true Citroen enthusiast.
