TVR was an independent British manufacturer of sportscars and until 2006 was based in the seaside town of Blackpool. The company manufactured lightweight sportscars with powerful engines and was, at one stage, the third largest specialised sportscar manufacturer in the world offering a diverse range of coupes and convertibles. TVR's are composed of tubular steel frames, cloaked in fibreglass bodywork. The two arms of the company were TVR Engineering, which manufactured sportscars, and TVR Power, their powertrain division. The company has regrettably had a turbulent recent history and has not made any new cars since 2006. In July 2012, owner Nikolay Smolensky announced that despite analysing various potential plans to create a new car, building a new TVR model was not going to be financially viable, despite promising to do so when buying the company, and thus TVR's existence as a car manufacturer was ended. The Chimaera was intended to be the long-distance tourer of the range and as such was longer, more spacious and had slightly softer suspension than its sister car.

This example was purchased by our client's late husband in March 1997 and was his pride and joy during his ownership. It is presented in metallic red with black leather interior and has a black hood with removable targa top. The history file has various receipts for work carried out over the years, including the most recent invoice for £1,376 for a light service by FR Auto Solutions Ltd in High Wycombe carried out in June this year and it has just had a new battery fitted. It is also important to point out that a new odometer was fitted at 4,267 miles. Although the car is SORN, it has a new MoT test certificate which expires on 4th September 2026. The paintwork has suffered somewhat in various areas which can be seen in the photos and we understand the boot release may be faulty. This British sportscar is being offered without reserve.
