Beschreibung

1923 Rolls Royce 20hp Tourer Originally by Smith & Waddington

Chassis number: 83K7

Registration Number: BF6418

The 92 Year old owner of this delightful little 20hp has just completed a circumnavigation of Spain in the car & has now decided it is time for he & it to part ways.  This is a very early car with the rounded radiator edge profiles & was sent new as a chassis to Australia where it had a body fitted by Smith & waddington.  Information has come to light that the current body was moved to this chassis from an original Alvis 12/50 in Australia

The car is finished in Grey paintwork thought which is in good presentable order.  The interior comprising two bench type seats is upholsterd in grey along aith grey carpets & again is in good condition.  There is plenty of room up front for taller drivers such as myself.

The car has the early three speed gear box & goes along remarkably well running easily in modern traffic.  A modern USB chargin point has ben unobtrusively fitted under the dash to power navigation & phone needs.

Formerly owned in Australia by George Edwards from Albury and his family from the early, 1960s, under their ownership #83K7 received a restoration in 1978 and was reportedly used regularly. Inheriting the car from her father in 1982, J. Curtis had used the car for many more years before having the engine rebuilt in 1990. Remaining in the families prestigious private collection of 12 vintage cars, #83K7 was well-maintained and received sparing yet regular use.

In 2013 #83K7 was repatriated back into the UK from the time of the engine rebuilt.  The owner notes the car: “fires up very easily, pulls strongly and the gearbox is sweet”. The chassis for this elegant and sport early 20HP is equipped with full weather gear and the front seat has an ingenious mechanism that allows it to be folded back level to create a full-length bed, which is no doubt as useful on long tours around Europe today, as it would have been on the open roads in Period in Australia! There is also a storage compartment behind the back seat and an in-built toolbox within the running board.
