Beautiful Italian Renault 5 TL in an original top condition. Includes the original Libretto with stamps and the Italian export registration. The 5 was delivered new in Vercelli and imported to the Netherlands after 43 sunny years. The car was thus driven until 2020 and was discovered there by a Dutch Renault enthusiast. He did not hesitate for a second and immediately bought and imported the car. It is an honest unrestored 5, where do you still see them in this nice condition?

At the time, the R5 was an innovative compact car; only 3.50 m long and 1.53 wide, so excellent as a city car. Equipped with shield bumpers all around and plenty of space inside. The design is great and while designing it, female tastes were mainly considered, yet also suitable for men thanks to the fast versions and rallying. Rightly a sales hit and by now a cult classic.

The exterior of this 5 is remarkably nice and largely still in its original paint. The doors close excellently and all seams are correct. All known weak spots such as floors and sills look very good. The shield bumpers have been proffesionally repainted in the correct colour and brand new alloy wheels with wide tyres have recently been fitted. The original steel rims are also present. Nice original details: the Italian side blinkers are in the shape of a wybert! There is also a wybert on the lock of the lockable tank cap. The Italian 5 TL has retractable rear side windows.

The interior is completely original and bizarrely clean. The seats have the original upholstery and the fabric looks very nice with only 2 spots on the seat. You can see that the 5 has been inside a lot, as the fabric has not been affected by the sun. The dashboard has no cracks and all gauges work as they should. The switches and steering wheel and headliner look like new and there are two working interior lights. There are nice Italian rubber mats on the floor.

The indestructible 956cc Cléon-Fonte 4 cylinder has an excellent reputation. Renault built this engine in lots of models since 1962 and the 44 bhp has no trouble at all with its 744 kg net weight. The engine features a modern 1-2-3 ignition. Drives just great fun with the recognisable Renault sound and you can keep up perfectly with today's traffic.
