The Fiat 500:
The classic Fiat 500 needs no introduction. Originally launched in 1957, over the years some considerable improvements (both aethetically and technically) saw the light of day. It was September 1968 when Fiat launched a more lavishly equipped iteration of the 500 F it had on sale at the time, deemed to be called the 500 Lusso or in-short 500 L.
The 500 L is technically identical to the 500 F, using the uprated 499 cc engine producing a whopping 18 hp. The differentiation with the regular model was solely based on trim level. The Lusso variant benefitted from tubular bumper overriders, giving the car a more dainty appearance. Further brightwork was installed on the windscreens and the roof drip rails. The most notable changes were made to the interior as the painted metal dash made way for a new anti-glare plastic variant and a trapezoid instrument cluster was installed. The upholstery was finished in a new pleated leatherette style, and more storage space was created with inserts in the door cards and a central tray. Another nice feature that Fiat added to the Lusso is a fuel gauge incorporated into the instrument cluster!
This Fiat 500 L:
The motorcar on offer here, chassis number 2915246, was originally consigned to the Italian capital of Rome on the 22nd of September 1971 with reg number RH37779. This Fiat remained in the south of Italy throughout its entire life, as the car's provenance can be summarized as copies of the original Libretto depick a fully known provenance. The motorcar is presented in lovely Celeste Blu with a Nero upholstery and carpeting. The car is presented in great restored and above all original condition, as highlighted by its registration to the ASI (Automotorclub Storico Italiano) under number 231702/a in February 2016.
The car is absolutely rust-free, with consistent bodywork and razorsharp shutlines (for a Fiat 500 - that is). The engine fires up without any hesitatoin, and the gearbox shifts very smoothly too. It goes without saying all electrics are fully functioning, so its next owner can rest assured with plenty of enjoyable miles to come!
We've come accross multiple examples of these 500's over the years now. And we have absolutely no hesitation to highly recommend this 500 to any custodian who has waited for the right car to cross hispath. Probably one of the best 500 L's available at the moment, especially at this price-point.
