1961 | Austin-Healey Sprite Mk I

1189 MC was first registered on the 15th August 1960 and these round-arch examples are extremely collectible these days. This benefits from originating as a home market car and stayed in the UK for its entire life with its original registration number. In its 65-year lifespan, it has had only three former keepers with its current owner for the last seven years. The body shell was then stripped back to bare metal with panels were replaced where required, all seam welded to form invisible repairs. The entire shell was treated with a rust-proof coating and actually returned to its original factory colour of Old English White as per its original specification.

The mechanical work has been extensive, the complete drivetrain and engine/gearbox, has been re-engineered, which could be considered to be better than it's original condition. All brakes, including the powder-coated steel wheels, have been renewed and the electrical system upgraded to negative earth, including an alternator/dynamo. Electronic ignition is now fitted with a new wiring loom. The fuel system has been updated including a new fuel tank, fuel lines, electric pump and in particular, the twin SU carburettors have been rebuilt. The interior benefits from new Superlite black leather bucket seats, new carpets and a new wooden steering wheel. The dashboard has also been recovered and all the gauges restored and re-calibrated. The windscreen has been replaced and the hood frame has been stripped and powder-coated with a new black hood. Complete with a current V5C, a British Motor Industry factory build record and a full 12-month MoT test certificate and many restoration invoices, the final finish is outstanding and it's offered without reserve.
