Introduced in 2003, the second-generation Volvo V70 R represented the Swedish marque's most serious performance estate to date, successfully combining practicality, luxury and genuine high-performance credentials. Powered by a turbocharged 2.5 litre five-cylinder engine producing 300bhp, the V70 R was capable of accelerating from 0-60mph in under six seconds, placing it firmly among the fastest estates of its era. Distinguished by its unique body styling, larger alloy wheels and discreet 'R' badging, the model featured Volvo's sophisticated Four-C active chassis system, allowing drivers to select varying suspension settings ranging from comfort-focused touring to more dynamic handling characteristics.
