Who still remembers back to the 'turbo era' when the name turbo was prominently displayed on cars with pride? Amongst others Porsche also contributed to this. The German brand introduced the 911 Turbo Carrera in 1974 and delivered this iconic model from 1975 onwards. We can say that Porsche really came up with something new. The first true production supercar that further shaped the turbo era.

Although the model was immediately recognisable as a 911 due to its characteristic styling, the 930, as this type was internally referred to, had a 3.0-liter six-cylinder engine with a single KKK turbo, equipped with Bosch K-Jetronic fuel injection. The power output was enormous for that time, at 260 hp (245 hp for the American market). With a relatively low weight, the Porsche 930 could accelerate to 100 kilometers per hour in just over five seconds.

The name Turbo quickly became associated with very high performance and a lot of excitement. The Porsche 930 is a good example of this. This was a lightning-fast car that could easily punish the driver if not handled with some experience and respect. Of course, this only added to the allure of this type of Porsche.

Although the 930 served as the homologation basis for the Porsche 934 racer, the model was anything but a stripped-down circuit car. Turbos were luxuriously equipped, with a long list of options including air conditioning, an electric sunroof, headlight washers, full leather upholstery, a rear window wiper, and of course, a radio.

In 1978, Porsche updated the 930, giving the engine a displacement of 3.3 liters with an intercooler, 'improved' suspension, and brakes. The 3.3-liter engine, with 300 hp and a torque of 440 Nm, was a veritable cannon. The Porsche 930 had 'staying power' because it wasn't until 1989 that the model saw a new successor.

The example we offer here is a matching numbers 1980 Porsche 930. This 911 has the coveted 3.3-liter six-cylinder engine and a very low mileage of approximately 41,000 km. This Porsche was originally delivered through the official Porsche dealership Kinzo in Amsterdam (Amstelveen), Netherlands, and still has the original Dutch license plate. This Porsche then spent its entire life in this area. In 1989, this 930 went to the second owner and also underwent a thorough restoration and overhaul, which was completed in 2010. Since these works were carried out, this car has only covered 41.000 km. The extensive documentation we provide with the purchase includes the original manuals and service booklets, including a purchase invoice from the second owner, an odometer report, the official Porsche 'Birth Certificate' from Porsche Classic Center, and various invoices from Porsche specialists showing that no expense was spared on maintenance.
