Porsche 911 SC Group 3 “Rothmans Tribute” – The White Wolf in Rally Disguise

There are classics. There are racing legends. And then there’s this 1979 Porsche 911 SC – a car that wants to be both, and succeeds. Not just restored, but transformed by hand into a homage to the great Rothmans rally machines.

History with Attitude

First registered in Varese, Italy, in 1979 – when Porsche rally victories were daily headlines and Group 4 cars screamed through the Alps at night. In 1993, it moved to Milan but remained on Italian roads. In 2005, a new owner obtained ASI certification with Targa Oro, followed by the ACI/CSAI fiche for historic regularity races in 2008.

But the real story began in 2016: a motorsport enthusiast wanted to build a rally-ready 911 for the Monte Carlo Historique. The base car? Perfect, documented, ASI-approved. The workshop? Officine Balletti in Nizza Monferrato – the address for race-ready Porsches.

Not a Conversion – a Reincarnation

A car that was ready – but never raced. Family reasons kept it in the garage. In 2021, a collector from Rijeka took over, pushing it further: a Rothmans-tribute, hand-painted, complete with two matching helmets, custom skis, and a decorated jack. The body was stripped bare and fully restored, documented in hundreds of photos.

In 2022 came the finishing touch: FIVA certification.

Cockpit with Character

Inside awaits a black, minimal cockpit. No leather luxury, no chrome frills – just pure focus. New FIA seats, belts, intercom. The place where stories are written.

Breathing Engineering

The air-cooled 3.0-litre flat-six (type 930/03) sounds like a promise: mechanical, honest, uncompromising. At 7000 rpm, it reaches 165 km/h – not much, but that’s not the point. It’s about the experience. What happens between start and finish lights.
