Description

The Porsche 993 occupies a very special place in the history of the 911. It was the final generation powered by Porsche’s air cooled flat six engine, while at the same time being considerably more modern and usable than the 964 it replaced. Improved suspension, greater refinement and a completely redesigned body made the 993 easier to live with without losing the mechanical character that defines a classic 911. For many enthusiasts, a rear wheel drive Carrera 2 Coupé remains one of the purest and most enjoyable ways to experience the final air cooled generation.

This particular Porsche 993 Carrera 2 was first delivered on 12 June 1995 through Porsche Tourist Delivery in Stuttgart and was specified for the Belgian market. It was ordered in beautiful L39C Midnight Blue Metallic with a full grey leather interior. The specification is also considerably more complete than that of a typical Carrera 2. Factory equipment includes sports suspension, heated seats, ABD, 17 inch Cup wheels, rear window wiper, electrically adjustable comfort seats, cruise control, the enlarged 92 litre fuel tank, tinted windscreen, air conditioning, lumbar support, electric sunroof, onboard computer and extended leather.

The car was originally delivered with Tiptronic transmission. In August 2008, at approximately 148,000 kilometres, it was professionally converted to a six speed manual gearbox by an independent Porsche specialist. This was no improvised modification. The conversion represented an investment of approximately €6,750 and was carried out properly, using the correct Porsche components and following the correct technical procedures.

This is a car that has genuinely been driven, but it has been cared for just as seriously. The original service book is exceptionally complete and contains an impressive number of stamps covering the life of the car. Together with the extensive collection of invoices, inspection reports and registration documents, the mileage can be followed almost continuously from delivery at just 27 kilometres all the way to approximately 180,000 kilometres today.

More importantly, the paperwork clearly shows the mentality of its previous owners: when the car needed something, it was done. Maintenance was followed extremely closely throughout its life, first through the Porsche dealer network and later through experienced independent Porsche specialists.
In 2018, the car underwent another major mechanical programme, including an extensive top end rebuild. The cylinder heads were professionally rebuilt, new valve guides were fitted and numerous seals, gaskets, oil return tubes and ignition components were renewed. The invoice records approximately 49 hours of specialist labour alone. It was maintained properly, invested in and kept mechanically up to standard. And that philosophy continued throughout the later years. Oil services, inspections and technical maintenance were consistently carried out, while the most recent German TÜV inspection in July 2025 was passed without recorded defects.

A proper driver’s 993 with a history that proves it has been used exactly as Porsche intended and maintained with the same level of commitment, resulting in a remarkably honest and convincing 993. For us, this is exactly what a real driver’s car should be. Driven, properly maintained and consistently cared for.
